A Fabulous Kilronan Castle Wedding by Quinn Video

Real Weddings

“Our plan was to involve as much ‘fun’ as possible.”

The couple: Helen O’Shea & Noel Flynn
Length of engagement: 11.5 Months | Wedding date: 7th April 2017
Wedding venue: Kilronan Castle, Roscommon
Videographer: Quinn Video

We met… through our mutual love of GAA! We met through mutual friends on a night out in my local GAA club. Some of our early dates were spent in Croke Park followed by a tipple in Coppers.

Our proposal… Noel proposed in my favourite city, Toronto. He surprised me with a week’s stay in the Fairmont Royal York and went shopping for the ring there too.

My dress… My dress was a custom made dress in De Stafford Bridal. From the offset they were just fabulous. They literally started from scratch and made the dress just like I wanted it. They were so nice to deal with and I would highly recommend them!

My hair and makeup… My hair was by Louise Garret from Allure Hair in Ballina Co. Mayo. She was fabulous and was able to create exactly what I had in my head. My make up was by Amanda Conlon who again was fantastic. So many people commented on our makeup and it lasted the whole day. The girls were so professional and fit in just perfectly on the day.

What our bridal party wore… The girls wore Dessy dresses from Wedding World in Fairview and the lads wore suits from Louis Copeland.

His suit… Noel’s suit was from Louis Copeland and he was looked after very well by John Condon in the Capel Street store!

Our ceremony… The ceremony was in Keadue, Co. Roscommon which is the parish of Noel’s dad, Sean.

We chose our venue because… It had significant meaning for us. Noel’s dad (RIP) was from Ballyfarnon where Kilronan Castle is located. Noel’s dad used to tell stories of Kilronan as a ruined castle before it was transformed into a hotel and so therefore we knew a lot of its history. We had stayed in it many times before and just fell in love with it from day one!

Our wedding theme/colours… We didn’t have a theme as such!! Our plan was to involve as much ‘fun’ as possible. We named our tables after All Ireland Finals and included photos of the match day programme on each table. Our table decor was looked after by La Belle Fleur Florist in Drumshambo. I just fell in love with their Martini glasses and had them on each table!

We chose our videographer because… We had seen Ronan (Quinn Video) at two previous weddings and found him to be an utter professional. Noel was groomsman for his cousin David who had Ronan as his videographer and was impressed from the offset. He worked so well with our photographer Johannes Photography!

My favourite part of the wedding day… Having everyone up on the dance floor for the night was most definitely our favourite part. We had Smash Hits as our band and they play nothing but 90s. It’s not for everyone but we had a full dance floor for the night!! It tied into us just wanting people to have fun and go mad!!

My piece of advice for other couples… Very cliché but just enjoy every minute! We would love to do it all over again! The weeks coming up to the wedding were so enjoyable. So many people called and sent good wishes. You really do feel the love!!
