A Festive Christmas Wedding With Lots of Greenery

Real Weddings

“We both wanted to incorporate a little bit of Christmas so we had white roses, red berries with greenery through with acorns sprayed gold.”

Names: Sinead Hanley and Liam Mailey

Length of engagement: 11 months

Wedding Date: 07th December 2018

Wedding location: Mount Falcon Estate Ballina

Photographer: Steve Rogers

We met…  at Letterkenny I.T but didn’t get together until a few years later. We both had mutual friends so they all played matchmakers to get us together!!

Our proposal…  Liam proposed on the grounds of Carton House. We went away for our 5th Year anniversary. Was very romantic.

Our wedding theme/colours…  Black tie bridal party. Champagne bridesmaids dresses with shrugs. We both wanted to incorporate a little bit of Christmas so we had white roses, red berries with greenery through with acorns sprayed gold. I loved them. Celia is Sharkeys Florist done them and they were amazing. Highly recommend!!

My dress… Ronald Joyce in the beautiful McElhinneys in Ballyboffey Co Donegal. Mary T looked after me there and she was just amazing. So helpful.

My hair and make up… Makeup by Ann Young in Sligo and Noelle from Halo salon in Ballaghadereen.  Both Ann and Noelle are both ladies and true professionals. Highly recommend both ladies. The morning was so relaxed with the two of them. Had a number of facials with Ann prior to the day which was great to prep my skin. She is unreal at what she does. Also had a few hair treatments with Noelle as I don’t colour my hair so she had me prepped and ready for the day.

His suit… Black tie also from McElhinneys Menswear in Ballbofey Co Donegal.  The Groom and Groomsmen were very handsome in black tie.

What our bridal party wore… Mori Lee Champagne dresses from My Fair Lady in Monaghan. Cera was so nice to deal with. My sister got her dresses there so I knew she had a fabulous collection of dresses and styles.

Our ceremony… Church ceremony in St Nathys Cathedral in Ballaghaderreen Co Roscommon.

We chose our photographer because…  Steve Rogers. He was my sister’s photographer for her wedding so I knew I was dealing with the best. I booked him straight away once we set a date. I didn’t even go looking at others.

We chose our venue because… We went to see Mount Falcon in December 2017 and we were blown away. It was so stunning all lit up for Christmas. Not too big and perfect for our numbers. We had 100 guests. It is just so beautiful. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend future brides to view the stunning estate.

Our menu… Ham Hock followed by Tomato and Fennel Soup. Chicken or Salmon as a main.

Our honeymoon… We went to Tenerife on our mini-moon for a week. Perfect way to end the best day of our lives. Came back before Christmas so was perfect.

My favourite part of the wedding day…  When people arrived at the reception. We had a saxophone player who played while everyone sipped on hot whiskeys and Prosecco!!

My piece of advice for other couples…  don’t stress the small stuff! Nobody notices the tiny details. Take it all in on the day. Do what you want as a couple not what you think people want!!
