We met… through mutual friends of ours. We were friends for two years before we started going out together!

Our proposal… Ross proposed on Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui, Thailand last Summer. We had been to Thailand a couple of times before and it’s a really special place to us, so it was the perfect place for Ross to propose… although we were together nearly eight years I was still shocked and had no idea!

Our wedding theme/colours… Greys and silvers. We wanted a Winter Wonderland idea and felt these colours would work best. We also used lots of candles and fairy lights to create this winter feeling.

Our ceremony… Because we were having a December wedding we decided to have lots of Christmas songs throughout the ceremony. Ross’ aunt Barbara Galvin Sheridan sang for us and she was truly amazing! I walked up the aisle to ‘Walking in the Air’ and Barbara sang a beautiful version of ‘Fairytale of New York’ while we were signing the register. The ceremony was very relaxed and personal which is exactly how we wanted it!

My dress… My dress is from The White Room in Mullingar and is [by the designer] Mikaella. I loved it the moment I put it on and I really wanted something fitted but still a little fun!

We chose our photographer because… Friends of ours had used Daniel from DKPHOTO (www.dkphoto.ie) for their wedding and when we saw his work we knew we had to go with him. He captured our day in the most beautiful way and for this we cannot thank him enough! Daniel put us at ease immediately and went through the day step by step. He was so professional yet so relaxed and we barely noticed him snapping away throughout the day and night. He captured all of our amazing moments in such a natural and romantic way and we are so thankful for that. We will always have these beautiful memories of our perfect day, thanks to Daniel from DKPHOTO. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

We chose our venue because… We didn’t have to think twice about choosing Faithlegg House Hotel as our wedding venue. As I am originally from Waterford the location was perfect, but apart from that, Faithlegg has the most beautiful setting. The house has an intimate and personal feel to it, which was perfect for what we wanted. All of our guests were constantly complementing the service, food and attentive staff. Suzie and Linda were so helpful to us and no request was too big or too small!

Our honeymoon… We took a short break in Ireland as we wanted to spend our first Christmas as a married couple with both of our families. We are planning to travel to South America or Africa in July.

My favourite part of the wedding day… Where do I start… it really was the best day of our lives and it is so hard for us to pick a favourite part! The ceremony was very special and intimate and we both had our Godchildren Adam and Saoirse walking down the aisle as page boy and flower girl, helped along by their grandmothers! That was a beautiful moment! The speeches were also one of our favourite parts of the day. Everyone had such lovely words to say including Amy’s Dad and the Best Man. Even the bridesmaids all got up and said a beautiful poem for the bride! I loved Ross’ speech and he even got students of mine to make a short video for the occasion! It really was a very special day for us.

My piece of advice for other brides… Enjoy every minute of the day… it really does go by in a heartbeat!
