A Beautiful Berry And Eucalyptus Wedding

Articles, Real Weddings

This beautiful couple, Sinéad and Brendan planned their wedding throughout Covid. A proposal plan was postponed (but it still ended well), they had to cancel some not-so-Covid-friendly items, like their sweet cart, but they made the most of it. We love the “Share love, not germs” hand sanitiser bottles and the beautiful berry and eucalyptus theme they chose.

This story begins the way lots of modern love stories do: with a dating app. That’s right, Sinéad and Brendan had mutual friends, but really, it was Tinder that brought them together!

Their story gets funnier as Brendan proposed on 10/10/20. Being a farmer, Brendan thought the date choice was hilarious because of a fertiliser brand called 10-10-20! Originally, they were set to visit New York, but because of Covid, their trip got cancelled. Instead, Brendan popped the question on top of Coomshingaun in Waterford!

Here’s what Sinéad says: “I was totally shocked and absolutely delighted. I had complained the whole way up the mountain and then I was a new woman on the way down!”

There are two elements that Sinéad and Brendan incorporated into their wedding style: a beautiful berry shade and eucalyptus leaves. The berry shade is found in the bridesmaids dresses and they tied this into their colour scheme with the flowers, invites, mass booklets and signs too. Since Sinéad loves eucalyptus leaves, she made sure the flower arrangements included them and so did the invitations!

Sinéad found her dream wedding dress at Jeutonic in Kilkenny. We think she looks absolutely beautiful and are particularly fond of the detail around the neckline. Brendan’s suit is from Detail in Kilkenny and they said that both shops couldn’t have been more helpful!

The four stunning bridesmaids wore the Yvette gown from Folkster, in the berry shade. Brendan’s groomsmen wore navy 3 piece suits from Detail in Kilkenny. We just love that the 3 little flower girls wore white dresses and the two page boys wore navy slacks and white shirts with navy Converse shoes. How cute!

The wedding ceremony was incredibly special and emotional for everyone! Here’s what Sinéad says: “We got married in the church where I’m from in Kilkenny. It was beautiful. Both of my parents unfortunately have passed away, so it was emotional and we missed them a lot. My lovely brother walked me up the aisle.”

Sinéad has some talented musicians in her family! Her cousins played music in the church, which was really special.

Their stunning wedding venue was Faithlegg House Hotel! They had stayed there before they got engaged and absolutely loved it. It was a no-brainer for them to choose Faithlegg for their wedding venue, which they describe as “beautiful”, and we don’t blame them!

Sinéad and Brendan chose the wonderful, Daragh from Stargaze Photography to capture their day! Not only did he take amazing photos, but he made sure to check in with them and ask if they were doing okay or too cold. How thoughtful!

“He got some beautiful snaps from the day. We were so happy we choose him.”

There were a few items they hoped to include in their wedding, but sadly because of Covid, they had to say goodbye to a sweet cart. They embraced the challenge and created individual sweet bags for each guest! They also gave everybody a little personalised hand sanitiser bottle that said “Share love, not germs”. So cute! Their band and DJ, Ultrasound were brilliant and had everybody up on the dance floor all night. Sinéad and Brendan very generously made a donation to the Kilkenny/Carlow homecare team!

They both have so many lovely memories of their Big Day! Here are some of Sinéad’s favourites: “I really enjoyed the time that me and Brendan had alone together in the car driving to the hotel in Waterford. It was a rare quiet moment where we both realised hey we’re actually married now! Also me and the girls had so much fun getting ready the morning of the wedding. It was so relaxed and we all just enjoyed getting pampered and telling funny stories.”

We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding advice! Theirs is brilliant: “I know everybody says it, but enjoy every second because it really does go by in a flash! When planning the day I found sitting down and writing lists on days/evenings when I wasn’t busy or had a quiet moment was really useful. I had written a list of things to pack in my suitcase and things to drop to the church/hotel and I found them so helpful when I was a bag of nerves the day before the wedding! If not for the lists, I think I’d have forgotten half the bits I needed!”
