A Classic Wedding With White Flowers and Foliage

Meet Amanda and Ross! They got engaged in the middle of Covid and booked their wedding venue over a zoom call, after falling in love with Tankardstown House’s Orangerie!

Couple: Amanda and Ross Vickery
Engagement length: 16 months
Wedding date: 2022-03-05
Wedding location: Tankardstown House
Photographer: Under The Veil

Amanda and Ross met in 2011 through work. They went their separate ways and bumped into each other again in 2014. Their proposal story from Ross’s perspective is very romantic:

“Amanda was living in Limerick and I was living in Cork during Covid. We were going into lockdown in a week’s time. I told Amanda we were going for a meal in Kinsale for my mum’s birthday and suggested we go for a walk beforehand and meet the family at the hotel. I snuck Amanda’s suitcase into the boot of my car and went for a walk around Charlesfort, where I proposed. We went back to the hotel and got afternoon tea and stayed the night at Actons Hotel.”

They opted for a classic theme with all white flowers and lots of foliage!

Amanda wore a Suzanne Neville dress which they bought from Sharon Hoey in Dublin and wore white Michael Kors shoes.
Ross wore a blue suit which they bought from Savilles in Cork and a pink bow tie to match the bridesmaids dresses.

The bridesmaids wore pink Ted Baker Dresses and Carvella heels. The groomsmen wore navy suits with pink bow ties.

“We got married in St. Mary’s Church of Ireland in Navan Co. Meath. It was 45 minutes long. Amanda walked down the aisle to Fields of Gold in reference to my life as a Farmer. Amanda’s cousin played Sarah Buckley played ‘All of Me’ by John Legend on the Organ. The ceremony was really just a lot of excitement coming to fruition.”

They celebrated their marriage with a gorgeous reception at Tankardstown House!
“Tankardstown House was amazing! The staff were super helpful on the day. We booked Tankardstown in November 2020 during Covid, and we weren’t able to travel up to see the venue, so we booked it over a zoom call with a member of staff. We loved the high ceiling, attention to detail, and the number of cosy rooms with fireplaces for the reception. There is a glass ceiling in the Orangerie the length of the room in the middle and the amount of light that was coming in was incredible. On the day we had 5 high table stands of flowers. One on each corner table and another on the middle table. These looked amazing due to the light from the ceiling.”

Their wedding was beautifully captured by Jessica of Under The Veil. They were very lucky on the day, because it had rained all week but on their wedding day it was very sunny! The photos look like they were roasting in the middle of July, but it was actually cold with lots of sunshine.

Amanda’s favourite memory was walking into the Orangerie to the song “Walking on Sunshine” and seeing everyone in one place after all the photos were taken.
Ross’ favourite memory was his speech. He really enjoyed telling everyone their story of meeting and falling in love.

This is Amanda and Ross’s advice for newly engaged couples getting married:
“The day goes so quick, make sure you enjoy every moment. It’s cliché but couldn’t be more true. There is a build up of over a year for us and it’s all gone in a few days.”
