What could be more romantic than tying the knot amongst beautiful cherry blossom trees? That’s exactly what Wayne and Kate did! Their lovely story began in secondary school, with a proposal at the Trevi Fountain in Rome and a stunning wedding surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Wayne and Kate met in secondary school and had the most romantic engagement! Wayne popped the question at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy and Kate says “It was perfect!”

Kate describes their wedding as “Fairytale with elegance”. We love how she was inspired by the transition from winter to spring!

“Our hotel had gorgeous centerpieces of cherry blossoms and diamond candelabras so we chose cherry blossoms as our main theme. Our ceremony room had small and tall cherry blossom trees. We had scattered cherry blossom petals on the tables with the cherry blossom trees and small wooden logs to hold name cards for each guest. On the candelabra tables we had small scattered diamonds with a diamond name card holder for each guest.”

Kate wore a romantic full A-line gown very fairytale like with a plunging V-neck illusion bodice and an open back frame by with gorgeous floral lace details. Wayne wore a black tux with a velvet jacket and black shiny pointed shoes.

The bridesmaids wore silver angel sleeved dresses with beading and diamond details. The groomsmen worse black tuxes and braces.

Their beautiful decor was brought to life in their wedding ceremony:

“It was cherry blossom themed. We had small and large cherry blossom trees going up the aisle. We had a long white aisle runner with blossom petals scattered discreetly. We had vases filled with water with candles on top. A rustic welcome to our wedding sign styled with greenery and I made the floral centerpiece that surrounded our wedding ceremony candles. The colours of the room itself was blush pink with details of white and silver. Fitted well with the decor we added.”

“Our wedding venue was the Four seasons in Monaghan. We began our wedding planning during COVID and we were looking online for a venue to chose. We came across this hotel and we fell in love with it straight away, especially the room were we had our main reception it was just beautiful with all the lights (on ceiling and backdrop behind our top table), the design, decor – everything was just perfect! The wedding team were so accommodating and we even had our own private viewing as the hotel was closed at the time. We booked it straight away! The ceremony room was perfect, spacious and recently decorated. The drinks reception – the lay out was fabulous from tea, coffee and hot chocolate station, prosecco and beer flutes constantly flowing, gorgeous nibbles too and even bits of decor. Just overall the staff, rooms, food was amazing. The perfect wedding venue!”

Their wedding was beautifully captured by Peter and Isabel of Peter Bell Photography.

“From start to finish, we were just so impressed. They were so attentive, accommodating and professional. Isabel, his lovely wife, videoed our wedding day and the attention to detail was amazing. Peter himself had so many ideas and different ways to capture our wedding through his photography- everything we could have imagined and more. There was limited photo opportunities around our venue but still he made sure we had perfect shots – which we definitely got. The next day he had sent us a few pictures of what to expect and followed by a short clip of our video, we were so happy! The overall pictures and full video followed soon after not a long wait at all. We would highly recommend Peter and Isabel.”

To entertain their guests, they had personalised scratch cards for favours for the adults and personalised chocolate bars for the children – which everybody loved.

“We out a lot of effort into the smallest of details which we were happy was noticed! We had Allan Cavanagh as our caricature artist – highly recommend he was brilliant, attentive and so quick doing the pictures. Our guests thought it was such a great thing to have. We had Carolyn Sweets for their fantastic selfie mirror, postbox to keep our cards safe and their light up letters – they added to the room that bit more! Our wedding bad was Catch 22. They had the whole room up on their feet for the night. The selection of music was so versatile. They interacted with the guests and made sure we had a ball. Couldn’t have picked a better band!”

They have so many amazing memories of their Big Day, but this is one of Kate’s favourites:

“We have so many but walking down the aisle and seeing all our friends and family who came to be part of our special day, it was just so special. We could feel the love in the room.”

Newlyweds give brilliant wedding planning advice, don’t they!

“Do the day your own way as it is a day all about you as a couple and the things you love. Let the motions of the day be what it’ll be. There will be a few hiccups (nothing major hopefully) but just let it slide you plan your day for so long and put so much effort into it you just have to enjoy it and take it all in. It’s the most amazing day of your life.”
