How did you meet and get engaged?
We met through mutual friends on a night out. Paul proposed by the castle on Ballybunion beach where he spent summers growing up.
Describe your wedding:
Our wedding was simple with white, green and black as colours. Paul is in the army and wore his uniform. Due to this I kept the rest of the wedding party in black to match.
Tell us about your bridal look:
I found my dress in Vows in Blarney and loved it as soon as I tried it on as it was very simple. Due to Paul being in uniform with his metals and badges I picked something that was very simple to complement. I then just added a belt to make it a little different. I wore blue shoes which I love and have worn again since. My hair was down in vintage waves with a silver hairpiece I got off ASOS. I also wore a veil that was lined around the edges again from vows. Susan from Crazydolls did my makeup and I can’t recommend her enough. She was just lovely and my face stayed put all day.
What did your bridesmaids wear?
My 3 bridesmaids wore different black dresses. 2 were from Folkster and 1 was from Monsoon. They had black strappy shoes and also had their hair in different styles to complement them and their dresses. I was so happy with my choice even though lots of people were shocked when I said the girls were wearing black.
What was your ceremony like?
We had a lovely ceremony in Ballincollig Church. The singer from our band sang and she was beautiful. It was so nice to have our friends and family doing readings.
Tell us about your wedding venue:
We had our reception in Vienna Woods and they were so great to deal with. It was a perfect venue with lots of room and completely self-contained with its own bathrooms and smoking area. The food was also really good.
What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?
My favourite memory is walking up the aisle and seeing all my friends and family and of course Paul.
Have you got any advice for other couples?
Relax and enjoy both the day and preparation. It will all work out so don’t waste time getting stressed about the details.
