Orla and Seán met while queuing to get into McGowans of Phibsboro. A week later they went on their first date at the Station House Hotel in Kilmessan, Co. Meath. Three years later, on their anniversary, Seán took Orla there again and asked her to marry him.
Orla and Seán organised their wedding, together with family and friends. Orla describes it as the best day of her life! “A traditional Irish wedding, surrounded by our friends and family in a picturesque and romantic setting.”
Orla’s bridal look was simple and elegant. Her wedding dress was a Suzanne Neville Pandora dress, which she bought from Sharon Hoey. Just look at that fitted crepe gown! We love the deep V neckline and lace detail at the waist. Orla’s hair stayed in place all night long, thanks to Michelle O’Halloran, her brilliant hair stylist. And Lynsey of LK Pro was the amazing makeup artist.
The bridesmaids wore the beautiful Faye gown in cornflower, from Folkster. They also created beautiful bouquets for the bridesmaids.
Seán and Orla had a traditional Irish church wedding in the same church that Orla’s parents got married in 36 years prior. They had beautiful Irish music in the background, played by Ronan Browne on Irish pipes, tin whistle and flute. “We were so lucky to have Fr. John Owen as our priest for our wedding day, such a lovely man who went to a lot of effort to give us a beautiful ceremony.”
Their wedding was wonderfully captured by David Moore Photography. “David was brilliant to have on the day. Not only did he take beautiful shots of our wedding, but he also kept us laughing all day long with his witty humour. I heard of David from two of my friends who had him for their wedding, and I am so glad I took their recommendations.”
“Our wedding reception was in our special place, where Seán took me for our first date, and where he asked me to marry him on our anniversary 3 years later. The Station House is a beautiful boutique hotel set in a picturesque location with its vintage decor, and romantic gardens lit up by an array of fairy lights at night. The wedding team at the Station House Hotel, Jade & Emma were also amazing, and ensured everything ran smoothly on the day!”
Their favourite memory from the day was when Orla got to the altar and saw Seán. After the ceremony when they walked down the aisle together, everybody cheered them on!
“The same advice you will hear over and over again, but it is so true! Try not to stress about all the little things, they won’t matter on the day! Another tip which I thought was great was to try and make some time for just you and your partner on the day to take it all in. David, our photographer, suggested getting some photos done in the pub beside our venue. Not only did we get lovely fun shots, but we also got a little bit of time together after the church to take it all in, and have a quick drink by ourselves to settle the nerves before meeting all our family and friends.”
