Advice, Planning, Planning & Advice

Today we’re talking about some of the hidden wedding expenses you might not have considered.

Weddings can be as expensive as you want them to be. Sure, there are certain areas that you can spend, spend, spend on like the dream dress you’ve always wanted or the fancy bubbles for your guests, but ultimately you should only spend what you can afford. We will always advise on keeping an eye on your budget, no-matter how large or small!

With that in mind here are 15 wedding expenses to add to your list so that nothing becomes a surprise cost:

1. Postage – both for invitations and thank you cards.

2. Outfits for pre and post wedding events – hen and stag parties, pre-wedding dinner, next day outfit etc.

3. Underwear – very important for a flawless look and can be a bigger expense than you think.

4. Beauty treatments – getting your skin in shape with facials etc and pre-wedding treatments such as nails and tan etc.

5. Hair and makeup trials – always ask for a combined package deal from your suppliers.

6. Wedding stationery – remember to include the price of printing for thank you cards and all aspects of stationery.

7. Alterations – again you’ll most likely need alterations to your dress so include them in costing!

8. Audio – check if your ceremony venue has audio installed or if you need to hire it.

9. On the day co-ordinator – not essential but if you feel the need for someone to oversee every tiny little aspect of your day they are worth their cost if your budget allows.

10. Feeding your suppliers – because they’ve got to eat!

11. Tips – yes it is commonplace to tip your suppliers, especially if you feel they went above and beyond for your day.

12. Overtime charges – things can and commonly do run over-schedule on the day so check with your suppliers beforehand if you will incur any overtime charges.

13. Delivery, set up and breakdown charges – try and get these services included in your package prices for elements such as the flowers, cake and decor.

14. Breakfast for the wedding party – because you’ve all got to eat and it’s a long way to 6pm after the speeches!

15. Hotel rooms for the bride and groom – don’t forget to book yourself a room for the wedding night if it isn’t included in your wedding reception package!
