It all started in a busy pub in Walton Street in London on a Saturday night in January 2013. Louis looked immaculate with a pint of Guinness in his hand. His blue eyes were for the first time not glued on his pint, but a gorgeous Asian-looking Dutch girl – Conny. She looked a bit out of place as she was wearing a silver glitter dress in a pub. He boosted his confidence by flushing away a few more pints, then asked her: ‘What’s your number?’ After making conversation, he discovered that she was wearing the silver dress as she was on her way to an Austin Powers Themed party.

When Louis moved to Zurich for work in August 2014 they had a long distance relationship for a brief period but they knew they belonged together; Conny followed Louis and moved to Zurich too in January 2015. Later that month Louis proposed to Conny on a cold winter’s evening on the shores of lake Zurich where they used to live. She said ‘yes’, after asking him why it took so long to ask her!! Shortly after this, they travelled to New York City to celebrate their engagement.

As Louis had grown up less than one kilometre from Luttrellstown Castle the breathtaking venue seemed like the perfect choice for their wedding. One fine summer’s evening, Louis and Conny took a stroll around the grounds of Luttrellstown Castle and dreamed of getting married there. After a week of frantic calling they managed to secure a date for their dream venue. With a black tie dress code, Conny headed back to the Netherlands to choose her wedding gown with the help of her Mother. She found her dream dress at her second bridal shop, an elegant all over lace and beaded Stella York creation, whilst her maids wore tailor-made navy blue dresses. Louis headed to Saville Row, London for his impressive tux.

“The evening before the wedding we were quite anxious as we received reports the flight from the Netherlands with my Chief bridesmaid on board had been cancelled. She did eventually make it with two hours to spare before the ceremony!” said Conny.

“The day was a fantastic success. We were surrounded by our closest friends and family. The week leading into the wedding was the hottest of the year and the day itself was a glorious 24 degrees Celsius. There was also the slightest hint of a breeze which allowed for some stunning photographs of  my veil. The Church is 1km from the Castle and the service started at 12:30pm. After the service we were then able to enjoy the stunning environs of the Castle for the entire day. Classic musicians played throughout the afternoon as thousands of tiny bubbles rained down on the guests from the upper stairways as we cut the wedding cake in the majestic settings of the grand hall of the Castle. The doors to The Van Stry state room were opened at 5pm for the gala dinner which was followed by dancing in The Kentian Room,” added Conny.
