Today’s wedding is all about keeping it simple and enjoying your day. Back in July, Lorraine and Stephen tied the knot surrounded by family and friends, with a silver band playing on the lawn of Trudder Lodge and lots of smile-inducing sun.
With thanks to Daniel Kowalczyk at DK Photo for sharing this beautiful wedding.
Lorraine and Stephen first met at the wedding of a mutual friend. During a summer break to Hallstatt in Austria, Stephen proposed to Lorraine on a pretty lake:
“We were in our little rented electric boat in the middle of the beautiful lake, when Stephen first produced some Prosecco and two glasses. After we took our first drink he proposed!”
Lorraine used the internet as her main source of ideas to help bring her dream garden party wedding together, whilst shopping locally for her vendors.
The dress, oh, her dress! Purchased from Little White Dress in Castleknock, Lorraine knew the minute she tried it on, it was for her! The 1940s-inspired long sleeved gown was the ideal choice for the relaxed event and was elegantly complimented by her simple hairstyle and dainty headband by Irish milliner, Niamh Ni Rourke.
To continue with the casual tone of the day, flowers were given a fresh country look, with dainty jam jars filled with gypsophila and gerberas, bunting was cleverly draped around the reception area and guests gifted tasty treats which were displayed on a huge buffet style dessert table for all to enjoy. (Psst! For some DIY ideas with gysophila, check out our post on DIY tin can pew ends.)
Lorraine’s highlight:
“When we were having Prosecco on the lawn, mingling with all our guests and listening to the lovely Arklow Shipping Silver Band.”
Stephen’s highlight:
“Getting to kiss Lorraine and the drinks reception on the lawn.”
Lorraine’s ultimate advice to other couples is a little gem of advice that we keep hearing again and again:
“Keep perspective and keep your day simple.”
