Nina & Pierce's Intimate Galway Wedding
Wanting a small wedding with their nearest and dearest, Nina and Pierce settled on a destination wedding in gorgeous Galway during the spring of 2012. Their beautiful wedding was captured by Julie Napear Photography who had followed the couple over from their native America. The intimate wedding of Nina and Pierce took place at Glenlo Abbey Hotel, Galway along with 35 members of their family.

Nina and Pierce first met at a Halloween party being thrown by Nina’s cousin, who incidentally Pierce went to high school and college with and also lived with once they got their first ever professional jobs. At the party Nina was dressed as a red shirt Star trek character and Pierce was dressed as Phineas Gage.

One year later Nina proposed to Pierce at the Masonic Temple in Alexandria, Virginia which is the highest point and provides a great view of the city.

I pulled out my iPhone and started playing our favourite song, Falling Slowly’ from the movie Once,’ and popped the question! Of course he said yes, but the following year during Thanksgiving 2011 Pierce popped the question right back at me at the end of our family Thanksgiving feast!

We chose Ireland, because the country had special meaning to both of us.  I lived in Ireland for a summer when I was 20 years old, working at a restaurant to pay the bills.  It was an important growing experience for me, and I particularly had fond memories of visiting Galway when I was living in Dublin.  Pierce is 4th and 5th generation Irish American (100%).  He has been to the country several times over the course of his lifetime, and has met many distant relatives as a result.

Our entire wedding had a midnight blue theme.  It started when I proposed to Pierce, and I had bought a dark blue and black tungsten carbide ring.  When he proposed to me several months later, the engagement ring stone was a blue sapphire.  So, when we started filling out the details for the wedding, they all ended up with that rich midnight blue, including my dress, and his tie.

Nina and Pierce chose to write their own personal vows to each other.

Our vows were unique to us, our relationship, and our history. They both combined humour with love and honesty, and a couple inside jokes.  It made it that much more special.
