Weekday Weddings – Here’s Why You Should Consider Having One!

Planning & Advice

Over the last 18 months, lots of couples have had to reschedule their weddings. If you’ve even started to consider rescheduling, you have probably encountered the same issue as plenty of other couples – finding the right date. With popular dates, like Saturdays in Summer, filling up quickly, lots of couples are opting for weekday weddings!

It’s great for your budget

You’ll find that most suppliers have peak rates (during the Summer months and on weekends). These are typically the most popular dates for weddings and therefore are often the most expensive. On the flip side, a lot of suppliers have offpeak rates too. These apply to the less busy times, such as Winter months and weekdays. Because these times are less busy, and suppliers’ calendars don’t fill up as quickly, booking your dream suppliers will be cheaper!

Your dream suppliers have more availability!

Yup, that’s one of the best reasons to get married on a weekday – you won’t be competing with as many couples to secure the best suppliers in the country. Saturdays are hugely popular for weddings and top suppliers tend to fill up their Saturdays months, or even years in advance! Because weekdays are non-traditional you’ll find that it’s much easier to book suppliers.

It’s perfect for low-key couples!

If you are after a more intimate wedding with just your nearest and dearest, a weekday wedding is perfect! Lots of couples want to celebrate without the late-night festivities, and weekday weddings are just right for this.

A few things to consider for weekday weddings

Consider an evening wedding

Not everybody will be able to take time off work, so factor in a regular workday and traffic, and expect that most of your guests won’t be able to arrive before 6pm. Some will have to go back to their 9-5 the day after, so don’t expect everybody to be able to stay all night.

Give guests lots of warning

A weekday wedding is unconventional and it can be harder for guests to work around their already busy lives. Make a point of sending out your Save The Dates way sooner than you would have. Give them lots of time to plan days off, childcare, travel arrangements, etc.

Not everyone will attend

You’ll have to make peace with the fact that a weekday wedding won’t be possible for everybody, particularly guests from out of town or those with unmovable weekday commitments (think kids’ sports activities, weeknight classes or those who work weeknight retail shifts).
