You’ll Love These Real Life Destination Weddings

Inspiration, Planning & Advice

Do you dream of saying ‘I do’ on a sandy beach with the warm sun shining on you and your guests? How about partying with your loved ones while dining on Europe’s best food? There are plenty of things to love about destination weddings, so if you are looking for inspiration, keep on reading.

These three real life couples tied the knot in beautiful destination weddings across Europe and they are simply dreamy!

Portugal: Amy & Dirk

Their wedding was a mix of rustic and fairytale. They chose a gorgeous wedding venue with blue and white Portuguese tiles, so that was the inspiration for the theme. Amy’s favourite flowers are blue hydrangea’s so those featured a lot on the day.

“It was a beautiful sunny day and the water surrounding it was the most gorgeous shade of blue. We had a white pergola that was covered in blue and white flowers, lots of hydrangeas! We had a quartet which was playing when the guests arrived.”

Their wedding venue was Estoi Palace. When they viewed it in 2019 with their wedding planner, Paula, they immediately fell in love with it. It is an old pink palace with beautiful Portuguese tiles and stunning gardens. Their welcome drinks were held in these gardens and it was magical! But the real magic came at dinner. They hosted their dinner under the trees, with chandeliers hanging from them (which their fabulous wedding planner made happen). The twinkle and the sparkle from them was incredible.

Italy: Síofra & Shane

The festivities kicked off with a pizza party at sunset to welcome all the guests. This gave Síofra and Shane the opportunity to connect with each of their guests in the beautiful walled garden at Castello di Montignano. This really set the tone for the next few days.

The theme for the wedding day was rustic using the colours light blue, white and greens. It was a relaxed affair with swims in the morning in the pool onsite, followed by the ceremony and a wedding dinner outside under lights as the sun set. A surprise firework display for the bride and the guests set the tone for the great dancing and party that followed into the early hours of the next morning.

The Third Day included a barbecue with live music around the pool.

Spain: Leyla & Max

“The wedding venue is out of this world, a restaurant with absolutely stunning location with the most wonderful owners. It’s in Benissa, Spain right on the sea. We knew as soon as we went to visit this was where we wanted our special day. Me and my dad arrived by boat for the ceremony, it looked absolutely stunning, better than I imagined and the food was incredible! Our guests are still talking about ‘the best wedding ever’ and how amazing the food was. We also had paella in the evening which was delicious! We had 2 singers during our day as well as a sax player which really got the party going during dinner! We then had a DJ in the evening who continued the party inside the restaurant. My husband then arranged surprise fireworks whilst my favourite song ‘Coldplay – Sky full of stars’ played in the background. It was a dream of mine to stand and watch fireworks with that song playing surrounded by our friends and family and we were told the fireworks were not possible but my husband arranged in secret!”
