Shauna and Tomas’s proposal-at-home story is very romantic and best told from Shauna’s perspective:

“I arrived home from a long day of Christmas shopping and was exhausted. First thing I did when I got into the house was go to the kitchen to make some tea. I had forgotten to ask Tomas if he would like some haha, so as I turned the corner for the sitting room Tomas was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was such an amazing surprise and one of the best days of my life.”

They describe their wedding day as “magical”, and with their Harry Potter details, we aren’t surprised! Shauna is a huge Harry Potter fan, so she had her bridesmaids in burgundy to match Gryffindor. Other personal touches included Harry Potter themed decals for the bottom of her wedding shoes.

We love that Shauna did all the decor herself! She created a beautiful memorial table for guests who had passed away and couldn’t be with them on their day.

“Having all of our closest family and friends to celebrate with us was amazing. From start to finish it was the most amazing day, you just wish you could re-live it over and over again.”

Shauna’s dress was very unique. The best way she can describe it is, “Like cracked ice and snow with lots of glitter.” It had a detachable train which made it so much more fun to wear. She also had a unique handmade half crown made to wear on the day.

Tomas wore a gorgeous Navy Benetti suit, navy tie and lovely brown shoes.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful burgundy off the shoulder dresses with a diamanté belt and baby’s breath flowers in their hair.

Flower girls wore white lace dresses with a burgundy sash and diamanté belt to match the bridesmaids and also some beautiful flower crowns.

The groomsmen wore amazing Navy and grey Benetti suits with burgundy ties and brown shoes.

Page boys had navy suits with little dicky bows and black shoes.

They loved how personal and intimate their wedding ceremony was!

“It was so focused around myself and Tomas becoming husband and wife. Our registrar put us at ease every step of the way throughout the ceremony. We had Hazel Alexander, an amazing violinist playing during the ceremony and – oh my god – she is just the most wonderful person, the music was lovely.”

Their wedding photographer, David McLean of DMC Photography, captured the day so beautifully!

“Where to start on David. He is just the most amazing man. You wouldn’t even know he was there, you are just made feel so at ease. David is so patient and takes his time with everything, makes sure you feel comfortable enough during the photographs all the time. David is just the best craic and I even had him hopping in for a few pictures because he was just such a huge part of our day. Definitely wouldn’t have been the same without him.”

To entertain their guests, they had The Engagements, who were able to fill the dance floor all night long.

For wedding favours, Shauna bought little burgundy bags and put heart chocolates into them.

My favourite memory from my wedding day is when myself and Tomas were doing our first dance and our daughter ran out to join us and she said to me ‘You have the same name as me and daddy now.’ I just filled up with happiness.”

Newlyweds have the perfect wedding planning advice. Here is Shauna’s:

“My advice would be to enjoy every single minute of your big day. Not everything may go to plan or exactly how you want it but at the end of the day you are marrying the most amazing person in your life and just being there with them is enough to make even the smallest of mishaps feel so small and not important.”
