My Biggest Wedding Planning Regret

Supplier Spotlight

Many couples get married only to look back on their wedding day with regrets. “I wish I’d created a seating chart!” or “I really should’ve bought fewer wedding favours” or “My shoes were so uncomfortable”. But the biggest – and most common – wedding planning regret is not hiring a wedding planner.

Couples often view a wedding planner as a luxury. As a former wedding planner and coordinator, I’m here to tell you otherwise. Before you start thinking “But it’s so expensive!” try asking a wedding planner for a price list. “But I’m so organized”… sure, but will you be running the show on your wedding day?

I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner or day-of coordinator to bring your wedding plans to life. An experienced wedding planner will keep you at ease, offer creative ideas, and get discounts for you on other suppliers.

I had a chat with Zoe from MBZ International and this is what she had to say:

“Couples should hire a wedding planner because planning should be an enjoyable process and a time you get to enjoy and spend with your partner rather than worrying about all the tiny details. I don’t think couples fully understand what goes into planning a wedding until they do it and the biggest feedback I get is ‘in hindsight we should have gotten a planner’.

Once we have a consultation with the couple we begin to form a picture of the day they have in mind, we then start to pull together the best suppliers to create the day that they want. We know the industry suppliers, we get preferential rates which we pass on and if what we present isn’t 100% correct for the couple we keep coming back with more options until it is.

During the consultation, we will find out the top things from the Bride’s point of view and also the top things from the Groom’s. A lot of the time these can be miles apart but it is our job to merge them in some way and ensure both have the best day of their lives!”

Ever wondered what a wedding coordinator does on the day?

“I think the main thing that I do on the wedding day (as well as the styling and decor) is actual supplier management and timekeeping. As fantastic as it is to stay at certain parts of the day longer than planned, the couple also has to realise this means they lose time elsewhere, usually the band or the DJ which are costly elements and also great fun.
We personally meet all suppliers as they come on site, ensure a smooth set up and ensure no detail gets overlooked.” – Zoe from MBZ International

A word from real couples

“I was looking for someone to help coordinate my wedding as I lived in London and was trying to coordinate overseas. Zoë took all the stress out of organising, made my day so special, knew exactly what I wanted and delivered a top quality, high-end service but without too much formally and she was such fun to work with. Absolute pleasure to work with.” Amy S

“What sets Zoë apart from other event planners is that she actually listens to what you envision for your wedding day and incorporates your ideas. We would not hesitate in recommending MBZ to other couples. Zoë ensured that we had the most enjoyable day possible and most importantly, her energy and enthusiasm for her work make her a joy to be around.” Julie and Niall Corkery

“Zoe played a key part in making our wedding day so perfect and memorable. She was extremely professional, dedicated and experienced but also an absolute pleasure to work with and have around on our special day. Knowing Zoe was behind the scenes making sure everything went smoothly meant that my husband and I, and the whole bridal party could simply relax and enjoy the day fully. I would highly recommend Zoë for anyone starting their wedding planning journey or for someone who wants that extra help on the day to ensure your dream wedding goes as perfectly as you hope!!” Fiona & Damien

MBZ International Package Information

I love nothing more than getting to know a bride and groom and working with them to create their magical day while keeping any stressful elements that may arise as far from them as possible. Planning a wedding should be a wonderful experience for Bride and Groom alike and MBZ is here to make sure it is.

At MBZ we understand what a personal day this is and will be there for you as much or as little as needed. As such we offer a wide range of services and can tailor make a solution that meets your requirements. We like to start with a complimentary consultation to understand what is being requested of us and also to ensure that all elements of the day or days are being considered before we create a bespoke proposal for you.

We can essentially do everything for you – we are the A-Z of weddings!

Full Planning

As well as proposal planning we offer full planning which involves planning with you from now straight through to the big day. It would include styling, sourcing of suppliers, logistics and budget management – essentially Zoë is as involved as much as you want her to be.

Coordination

The second package would be coordination. With this option you would do all of the sourcing and management yourselves, you would do a hand over with Zoë in the month coming up to the wedding and she would manage from that point on and would be there on the day to ensure everything looks as you envisage and runs smoothly.
The full package is the most popular option but we are always open to putting something together to meet your requirements, we suggest a quick consultation is the best route forward.
