We met… We met through a mutual acquaintance. I was actually at his 21st birthday party when I was 17…..little did we know that a couple of years later we would have fallen in love and have started a family!
Our wedding theme/colours… We had a rustic/vintage theme. I knew what sort of a theme I liked but had no idea how to bring this to life! I contacted Yvonne from Whimsical Weddings and she knew exactly what I was looking for! She made our rustic/vintage theme come to life. They are just amazing at Whimsical Weddings and knew exactly what I wanted! I couldn’t get over the décor when I arrived! They also provided a donut wall which was a HUGE hit with the guests!!!!
Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… We had the girls from Whimsical Weddings so thankfully we didn’t make anything ourselves! We are not very creative/artistic and the Whimsical Weddings saved us from being covered in PVA glue and lollypop sticks in the run up to our wedding!
My dress… I got my dress from Memories Bridal in Lucan. The girls were really helpful! Myself and my 6 year old son went to pick out my dress – I knew it was the one when I came out of the dressing room and my son was holding the trail of the dress…..my heart just melted!
My hair and makeup…I have had the same hair dresser for the last 15 years and there is no-one else that I would let near my hair, he is amazing and we had great fun on the morning down in the salon. My makeup was done by the amazing Laura Kinney she was great and really knows her stuff!!! She also is really aware of how the makeup looks while being photographed which I think is really important. I loved my hair and makeup and it lasted all day and night!
His suit…Dublin Formal – they were great down there and the suits were gorgeous! Everyone commented on how well Kevin and the groomsmen looked.
What our bridal party wore…My bridesmaids wore the multi-way dresses from Carries Closet in teal. They really liked these dresses as they could be worn in so many ways that each of the girls was able to wear it in a way that they felt most comfortable! The girls in Carries Closet were really helpful – they showed us all the different ways in which the dresses can be worn and did demonstrations for us.
Our ceremony…We had our ceremony on the grounds of the Avon Ri – unfortunately the weather was not good enough to have the ceremony outside but the room was gorgeous! Gabrielle from A Beautiful Ceremony performed our ceremony for us and it really was beautiful, it was so personal to us as a family and was really meaningful. Gabrielle was also at the venue really early on the morning of the wedding which was great as members of our family who were doing readings/lighting candles, etc. could meet with her first. She is so lovely and really has a way of making you feel really relaxed!
We chose our photographer because…We met Anthony Kane at a wedding fair at the Avon Ri and we just instantly got along with him. His work is gorgeous and he has a real talent for what he does but for us most importantly he was really sound and an absolute gentleman and we really got along with him! We are not ones for being in the spotlight and he did more of a documentary style for us which we loved. He captured pictures that we didn’t even realise he was there for. He has such a talent and we wouldn’t of wanted anyone else to capture our special day.
We chose our wedding coordinator because…We had the wedding coordinator from the Avon Ri, Katie Kinsella, who is absolutely AMAZING at what she does!! She helped us organise every aspect of our day and thought of all the things that we would never have even considered! Katie was just out of this world and really down to earth! She made sure the day ran so smoothly and took all the stress out of the run up to the wedding so we could just really enjoy the day!
We chose our venue because…The views in the Avon Ri are just spectacular!! The venue itself is beautiful also! It has a really chilled out vibe and the library room is gorgeous!! We also chose the venue because Katie was there! She is a dream to deal with and nothing was too small of a request!
Our menu…we had a choice of baby ceasar salad or soup, beef or chicken for main and a trio of dessert! The food at the Avon Ri is gorgeous! We also had cheese boards after dinner that went down a treat! The presentation of the food was just lovely! All of our guests commented on how lovely the food was and that there was plenty of it – they offered seconds too!
Our honeymoon…We had a ‘familymoon’ in the H10 Princess Lanzarote! Lovely hotel and great for our son who loved the pool and the evening entertainment and kid clubs!
My favourite part of the wedding day… My favourite part was when we were getting our pictures taken by the lake – It was just myself and Kevin and Anthony and his second shooter Chris. The lake is so peaceful and it was really nice to take 20/25 minutes to just be with each other and we got some AMAZING pictures!!
My piece of advice for other couples…Take every moment it…it really is over so fast!
